It’s not easy trying to get off the ground as an author while working a day job, especially when you get a priority project that requires over-time (evenings and weekends) for an extended period of time. It’s been mentally exhausting since the last couple of weeks in April and it hasn’t let up until just now (and may kick back into high gear over the next two weeks).
What I’m trying to say is, that while I have technically had “free-time,” I’ve been so tired, the thought of doing anything requiring mental effort (like going through the edits on my manuscripts) is something I have’t been able to force myself to do. It might be different if I wasn’t spending all my days banging away at a keyboard. It’s frustrating because everything was on track for a June 1 launch for Iron Fist of the Oroqs, but this project at my day job has thoroughly interfered with my personal life and prevented me from working on it.
You might say these are just excuses. If I was really dedicated, I’d power through and do it anyway. If you say that, then I will be forced to disagree. I have been so exhausted from my day job, driving home is a chore, and I know if I try to do a good job with my novels, I will fail and it will create more work for me.
Real Life will get out of my way soon. I know exactly what remains on this project, and I know I’m close to finishing. Once I do, I’ll be able to get myself reset and recharged and bring the next novel for the World of Calliome to Amazon (and Zack Jackson, too!).
